Competitive Country Dance

Country Western Competitive dancers want a very specific look for each dance in which they compete. The costumes are complex, and the requirements of the dance demand costumes that wear like iron, but are comfortable for these high-level performances.

Pat's "Bluebird/Over the Rainbow"

Pat has been competing and performing for many years, and has achieved many titles and risen to the highest level in both couples events, as well as in Pro-Am with her professional partner, Josh (seen in these images). This waltz was a new piece that debuted late in the season, and was performed both at the American Country Dance Association Nationals and United Country Western Dance Council Worlds competitions to critical acclaim. The leotard and pants of the costume are made from a two-way stretch, glittery velveteen-like fabric; the leotard has an underlayer of 4-way stretch scuba knit and is closed with an invisible zipper, and has a built-in bra. The overskirt and rainbow arm float are made of 100% crinkled silk chiffon--the float is double layered to be identical from front or back when in motion. The pants and skirt are attached to the leotard with snaps, and the pants also have an invisible zipper in the center back. One sleeve and part of the asymmetrical bodice yoke are made from 360 degree stretch flesh-colored mesh. All of the rhinestones are Precosia and have been individually secured with E-6000 (stonework by Mary Celichowski).
